Why Does Everyone Else Seem Ahead of Me?
“Why does everyone else seem ahead of me?”
They got the job.
They graduated.
They moved out.
They’re traveling.
They’re making money.
They seem to know what they’re doing.
And maybe you’re sitting there thinking:
What am I doing wrong?
Probably nothing.
The problem is that you’re comparing everything you know about your own life to the little pieces you can see of someone else’s.
You see the new job.
You don’t see the 20 applications they sent before they got it.
You see the apartment.
You don't necessarily know who's helping pay for it.
You see the graduation picture.
You don't see all the uncertainty about what comes next.
And social media makes this even harder.
Everybody seems to be moving.
So when you don't know your next step yet, it can feel like you're standing still.
But there isn't one timeline you're supposed to follow.
Some people know what they want at 18.
Some figure it out at 25.
Some change careers at 35.
And some change again at 50.
Life isn't a race where everybody starts at the same place and runs toward the same finish line.
So instead of asking:
Why are they ahead of me?
Try asking:
What's my next step?
Not theirs.
Yours.
Maybe it's applying for one job.
Taking one class.
Saving your first $100.
Researching a career.
Trying something you've been afraid to try.
You don't need to catch up with everyone else.
You need to keep building your own life.
One step at a time.
