What If AI Takes My Future Job?

Choosing a career was already hard.

Now there's AI.

You're supposed to figure out what you want to do, maybe choose a major, go to college for four years, spend a lot of money, and prepare for a career.

But while you're doing all of that, the work itself is changing.

Pretty fast actually.

I use AI a lot.

I think it's amazing what we can do with it. Things that used to take me hours can sometimes take minutes now.

But I also think... if I were choosing what to study right now?

I would have a lot of questions.

Will this job still exist?

Will AI do part of it?

Will I be competing with AI?

Or will knowing how to use AI actually make me better at the job?

And what skills will still matter five or ten years from now?

I don't know.

And I don't think anyone completely knows right now.

That's what makes this such a strange time to be choosing a career.

It doesn't mean don't go to college.

It doesn't mean don't choose a career because AI might change it.

And I'm definitely not saying AI is bad. I use it myself.

But I do think it's something you have to think about.

Especially before spending years and a lot of money preparing for something.

Maybe you're choosing a major right now.

Maybe you're already studying for something.

Maybe you know exactly what career you want, but you're starting to wonder what that job will even look like by the time you get there.

I think that's a very real question.

Is AI changing the way you think about your future career?
