Job or Start a Business?

Job or Start a Business?

This question looks very different today than it did when I was young.

You open your phone and someone is making money on YouTube.

Someone has an online store.

Someone is selling a course or a digital product.

Someone is an influencer.

And now with AI, there are even more ways to create something and make money from it.

I mean, none of this really existed when I was 20.

So I can understand why a regular job might start to look like the boring choice.

I'm a teacher and also an entrepreneur.

I love creating things. Books, products, courses, businesses. Taking an idea and seeing if I can actually turn it into something.

But I also know the other side of it.

Depending on the kind of business you have, it can consume you.

Especially when you are part of the product.

There's always something else you could be doing.

Something to create. Something to answer. Something to fix. Something to sell.

And even when you're technically not working, sometimes your brain still is.

I think I underestimated stability for a long time.

Knowing what's coming in.

Having a schedule.

Maybe benefits.

And being able to finish work and actually be finished.

I still love entrepreneurship. I wouldn't give that up.

But I don't think one is necessarily better.

And I don't think the question is only:

What do I want to do?

Maybe it's also:

How do I actually want to live?

Because the way you make money becomes part of your life too.

Job or your own business?

I don't know. What would you choose?
